Grassroots Campaign Training 2 rsvps
Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 11:30 AM
Nunhead Green Community CentrePLEASE RSVP TO THE EVENT ON ACTION NETWORK
Southwark has massively expanded its electoral ambitions for May and we want to bring in a green wave of councillors! To do this, we need you to step up and help us organise! Will you get trained up to help us win big in May?
Join us for a regional training day designed to help local parties and activists learn how to win elections from the grassroots up.
We’ll cover the nitty gritty of winning seats, alongside trainings on fundraising, capacity building, and grassroots organising.
This is highly recommended for campaign leads and local organisers. Please forward this to members looking to get more involved, and your ward teams!
Our goal is to train up hundreds of grassroots campaign managers to build capacity faster than we ever have before.

Planning for People meeting
Monday, January 19, 2026 at 07:00 PM
Sands Studios in United KingdomPLANNING FOR PEOPLE: HOW CAN WE MAKE THE PLANNING SYSTEM WORK IN SOUTHWARK?
Southwark lies at the centre of one of the world’s richest cities with high land values and great potential for development. How can Green councillors influence how land is used in the borough for the benefit of Southwark residents, many of whom suffer from poor and insecure housing and high levels of poverty and unemployment?
Our speaker is Cllr Kath Whittam, one of our new councillors who has recently defected from Labour. Drawing on her 8 years’ experience on Southwark’s planning committee, Kath will take us through the planning process. She will explain how councillors can shape and improve plans submitted by developers and the obstacles that will need to be overcome in order to maximise the benefits for Southwark residents. How can we really ensure that new developments contain at least 50% of affordable housing? How can we ensure that we retain and increase jobs and facilities for local people and protect the borough from gentrification?
