We're delighted to announce that Green Assembly Member, transport campaigner and Chair of the Assembly's Environment Committee will be our key speaker at this year's AGM.
Caroline is an expert on transport issues throughout London, and recently led the report into London's Hostile Streets - areas where access to local amenities such as shops, schools and libraries is made almost impossible by hectic, busy roads cutting off residential areas from their services. Caroline has helped us on a number of issues regarding Southwark's streets, in particular giving ongoing advice regarding the Camberwell Green junction nightmare. As a member of the transport committee she is also overseeing the Mayor's implementation of the Healthy Streets policy, holding him to account to ensure our streets become more friendly for pedestrians and cyclists, and working hard to reduce the air pollution blighting our communities.
Caroline's talk will give a positive vision of the future for London's streets, and let us know what we can do to ensure that vision comes to pass.
Additional information about Caroline's work:
As Chair of the Environment Committee, Caroline has led campaigns against the expansion of Heathrow and published reports on electric vehicles and "unflushables" - wet wipes, period pads and tampons, which clog up our sewers and contribute to plastic pollution in our water. She is also challenging the Mayor on his response to the IPCC's recent report on climate change.
Come and hear about her work, how she's helping to make Southwark's streets cleaner, and what her future plans are.
